Mia Brown
My Story
Hi everyone! I'm Mia and next summer I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in order to raise money for the charity Dig Deep. In total it will be a six day climb and all funds raised will go to Dig Deep. Mount Kilimanjaro is in Tanzania and at its highest peak measures at 19,350feet (5,895m).It is Africa's highest peak and the world's highest freestanding mountain. Having never done a climb like this and also having a small fear of heights I am so excited to challenge myself and embark on this journey and hope you all will support me on this adventure!
I am doing this to support Dig Deep and raise funds to help fulfil their mission to unlock opportunity for Kenya's poorest residents, county by county, by ensuring everyone has clean water, safe toilets and good hygiene - forever.
Where Dig Deep work, 8 out of every 10 people lack access to clean water, safe toilets and good hygiene. Most residents live in rural communities and spend hours every day walking to collect dirty water or find a safe place to relieve themselves. Dirty water and poor hygiene spread diseases meaning even more time is lost to sickness that could have been used to learn and earn.
For a child, this can mean the difference between dropping out of primary school and completing a full education. For a parent, this can mean the difference between struggling to get by and earning enough to improve the standing of their family. By reducing the time lost to water collection and preventable disease we remove these barriers to learning and earning, allowing people to lift themselves out of poverty.

My overall fundraising target is £2700
50% of which goes directly to unlocking the potential of communities in rural Kenya
50% of which goes towards my expedition costs (not including flights, I am paying for these myself)
I would greatly appreciate any donations and will be sure to update this page on any progress I make. Thank you!
